DÍGITS

DÍGITS -from number to bit- is a series of 50 videos (of about 5 minutes) and this website on numbers, measures, computations, calculating machines and, specially, computers.

Through images from documentary archives, computer animations and Internet, DÍGITS describes ideas, characters and experiences of the past and the present of the digitalization of information and communications. Through understandable words and a lively rhythm, DÍGITS is adressed to everybody interested on this present time phenomenon and its varied applications.

The series DÍGITS was broadcasted from october to december 2006 through Canal K3/C33 of Televisió de Catalunya and from january to march 2007 through Canal 33 TDT of TVC. Actually all videos may be viewed on line at Edu.cat, and some of them at YouTube.

For each chapter of the series, the website digits.cat shows the link to the video of Edu3.cat, the text and some frames (more than 500 frames in all). Every frame can be accompanied by some Notes, with recommended links and additional information, and one or more Collaborations, which are commentaries on the person, the work or the concept represented by the frame. Thus digits.cat is more than a companion web: it is a collaborative web that allows to extend the knowledge suggested on the videos and it constitutes, by its own, a varied approximation to the subject.
